About the race
The Brandwaterkom Unforgettable Trail takes place at Oranje Guest Farm in the Brandwaterkom valley, Eastern Free State, near Fouriesburg and Clarens. The event uses marked mountain trails that run through ridgelines, sandstone cliffs and working-farm landscapes with grazing livestock and wide mountain views.
Three entry categories are offered:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 21 km
Each route is marked and includes on-course support: the 5 km route has one aid station, the 10 km route has two aid stations, and the 21 km route has three aid stations. The organizer specifies compulsory footwear by category: running shoes for the shorter route and trail running shoes for the 10 km and 21 km options. Podium finishers in each category receive a medal.
Event facilities at Oranje Guest Farm include a swimming pool, food stalls, craft beer and merchandise stands, and family entertainment. Accommodation options are available on site for self camping and other alternative lodging choices. The venue is a working farm set between the Maluti and Rooi mountains, noted for sandstone cliffs and valley scenery on the R711 route between Fouriesburg and Clarens.
