Brandon Hill Half (Kilkenny)
The Brandon Hill Half in County Kilkenny takes place on 5 July 2026 and covers a distance of 21.27 km with a total climb of 906 m. The event is rated 9 (3,3,3) for difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent and a course longer than 10 km. The route is fully marked and the use of GPS devices is not permitted. The event forms part of the Leinster Half-Marathon League. Entry fee is €20 and entries close on 4 July 2026; at the time of publication 69 of 250 places were entered.
The course visits the summit of Brandon Hill twice, from opposite sides. The first summit occurs early in the race and is followed by a fast descent; the final summit is the last climb and is followed by a roughly 3 km descent. Between summit efforts the route features rolling trail and open views, and a new forestry climb midway with inclines up to 30 percent. The route follows the same line as 2025.
Logistics note: the race starts at Raheendonore Carpark on the L4209 between Graignamanagh and Inistioge; the nearest eircode for the turn off is R95 YF70. Parking is limited and marshals will provide guidance on arrival. Prizegiving takes place at the start/finish line.
Mandatory kit is Level B Standard and must be brought by all runners: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed at registration. Failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification; random checks may be carried out.
