Brandon Hill Half (Kilkenny)
The Brandon Hill Half is a mountain half marathon in County Kilkenny covering 21.27 km with 906 m of climb. The route is fully marked and GPS use is not allowed. The event is included in the Leinster Half Marathon League and carries an event difficulty rating of 9 (3,3,3) indicating difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent, and a distance over 10 km.
The course includes two separate summits of Brandon Hill, with the first summit early in the race and the final summit as the last climb before a fast roughly 3 km descent to the finish. Between the summits runners encounter rolling trail and open views, plus a new forestry climb midway through the course that reaches a reported 30 percent incline. Popular Strava segments on the route will be signed at their start and end points.
Mandatory Level B kit must be carried and will be checked; required items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag or equivalent. The exact kit to be carried during the race may be confirmed at registration and random kit checks may be carried out. The race assembles at Raheendonore Carpark on the L4209 between Graignamanagh and Inistioge; the nearest eircode to the carpark turn off is R95 YF70. Entry details are not yet available.
