About the race
The Boyle Heights 5K Run/Walk takes place in Boyle Heights with the course starting and ending at Mariachi Plaza Metro Station, located at 1831 East 1st Street in Los Angeles. The route runs along 1st Street and crosses the 6th Street Bridge; the majority of the course is flat and offers views from the bridge. A Classic Car Show lines 1st Street at the start area and a health festival is part of the event atmosphere.
The event program includes a Munchkin Fun Run that involves over 250 children running before the 5K. Organizers list the entry fee for the 5K age group/open category as $35 and note limited on-site late registration will be available on a first come basis. Event information advises using Metro with the Mariachi Plaza Station exit, and street parking is also available. Local Mexican restaurants and bars are located along 1st Street near the event area.
