Boston Trail Half Marathon and 5K
The Boston Trail Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk takes place in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania. Both events start and finish at the Boston Trailhead of the Youghiogheny River Trail, which is a section of the Great Allegheny Passage. The course features a level, USA Track & Field certified surface made of crushed limestone.
The event offers two primary distances:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 3.1 Miles (5K Run/Walk)
Participants in the half marathon have access to a pace team to help them reach specific time goals. The course includes marked miles and aid stations equipped with water, electrolyte drinks, snacks, and basic first aid. Medical services are available onsite for emergencies. The course officially closes in the early afternoon, after which support services are no longer provided.
Performance is tracked using electronic chip timing. Awards are presented to the top three overall and age group finishers across male, female, and open divisions. All participants who complete the half marathon receive a finisher medal. Those who register by the specified deadline receive event shirts, with technical long-sleeved shirts for half marathoners and cotton short-sleeved shirts for 5K participants. Following the races, the event provides music, food, and refreshments. Storage for personal belongings is available at the trailhead.
The event proceeds support the maintenance and upkeep of the trail through the Mon Yough Trail Council. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
