Bone Yard Trail Race : Mt. Zion Bike Trail, Brookhaven, MS
The Bone Yard Trail Race is the seventh annual running event at Mt. Zion Bike Trail, formerly known as Dust N Bones. The event offers multiple course options and added an ultramarathon distance three years ago; a 5K option was introduced this year.
The venue is located a few miles outside Brookhaven at 1134 Mt Zion Rd NW. The trails are described as mostly narrow and well marked, featuring ups, downs, twists, turns, and wooden bridges. Trails were created to promote health and fitness while enjoying the outdoors and are open to the public with no required fee; donations are accepted in a kiosk at the trail head. Profits from the event are used for trail upkeep and improvements.
Aid and facilities: snacks and water are provided at the 3 mile and 7 mile aid points and at the finish. There is seating at and around a pavilion; participants may bring lawn chairs to guarantee a seat. Parking is somewhat limited.
Awards and entry: all paid registrants receive an event t-shirt. Overall awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers and to the top three relay teams.
