BOclassic - International New Year’s Eve run in Bozen
BOclassic is an annual running event held on 31 December since 1975 in the historic centre of Bozen. The event uses a single official urban circuit that runs through the Bozen old town and measures 1250 m per lap. Elite races are broadcast by RAI Südtirol.
The event is organised in four categories and covers a range of distances and formats:
- Pensplan Centrum Just for Fun - open participation, distances from 1.25 km to 5 km
- Ladurner Volkslauf - competitive 5 km
- Raiffeisen Jugendcup - children and youth, 1.25 km to 2.5 km
- Elite - international athletes, women 5 km, men 10 km
On the official 1250 m circuit participants complete multiple laps according to their category: one to four laps for youth and fun runs, four laps for the 5 km races, and eight laps for the 10 km race. The programme typically includes community runs, youth races and elite competitions on the same circuit. The event also presents mottos used in its communication, such as Miß Dich mit der Weltelite, Lauf es aus das alte Jahr and Schwungvoll ins neue Jahr, which reflect its mix of competition and year-end tradition.
