About the race
The BOclassic is an annual road running event held in the old town of Bozen on 31 December. It has been organized every year since 1975 and is built around a single official loop course used by all categories. The event format is described as "1 event – 1 course – 4 categories."
All races take place on the BOclassic circuit through the Bozen old town. The lap length is 1250 m. Runners complete multiple laps according to their category: the 5 km events require four laps, the 10 km event requires eight laps, and youth races use one or two laps.
Four competition categories are contested: a non-competitive Just for Fun run, a 5 km Volkslauf for adult participants, a youth cup for children and teenagers, and elite races for international athletes. Elite competitions include a 5 km race for women and a 10 km race for men. Elite races are broadcast by RAI media channels.
Distances and typical formats:
- Just for Fun: variable distance, 1.25 to 5 km, 1 to 4 laps
- Ladurner Volkslauf: 5 km (4 laps)
- Raiffeisen Jugendcup: 1.25–2.5 km (1 or 2 laps)
- Elite: Women 5 km, Men 10 km
The event lists several mottos that reflect its character, including testing oneself against elite runners and marking the turn of the year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
