Bob Lauterbach Memorial Columbus Downtown Runaround
The event takes place in Columbus, Nebraska, across two sites: Lake Esther for the junior race and Glur's Tavern (2301 11th Street) for the main races. It is scheduled over two days in mid July 2026.
The program includes multiple distances:
- Junior Runaround, Lake Esther, free for ages 12 and under
- 2.1 mile race, timed distance
- 5 mile race, timed distance
Registration and shirts: the junior event accepts on-site entries with no entry fee. The 2.1 mile and 5 mile races require advance registration; race day entries are not accepted for those distances and late registrants may not receive a t-shirt. Packet pickup and t-shirt distribution are organized before race day at a local pickup location and at the start line on race morning.
Course and timing: the course was adjusted because of bridge construction and will not be USATF certified for this year. Organizers state the adjusted route aims to match the planned distances closely, but it will not be eligible for official record purposes. After one hour, race times are not recorded.
Awards and prizes cover overall and age-group placings in both distances, a Corporate Cup for businesses with the most finishers, alumni recognitions, door prizes, and a cash prize for breaking the 5 mile course record. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
