Bob Lauterbach Memorial Columbus Downtown Runaround
The event takes place in Columbus, NE over two days, July 17 and July 18, 2026. Activities are split between Lake Esther and Glurs Tavern at 2301 11th Street. The organizer adjusted the course because of bridge construction; the revised course will not be USATF certified and will not be eligible for official record purposes.
Distances:
- Junior Runaround at Lake Esther (age 12 and under, free registration at the race)
- 2.1 mile starting from Glurs Tavern
- 5 mile starting from Glurs Tavern
Entry fees for the 2.1 mile and 5 mile races start at $30 for early registration and increase through subsequent registration periods, with late registration reaching $45; no race day entries are accepted for these two distances. All entrants receive a event T-shirt; the shirt order deadline is July 14. Race packets and shirts are available for pick up on the day before the main races at the designated packet location and on race day at the start line.
Awards include top overall male and female placings and age-group awards for both the 2.1 mile and 5 mile events. Additional recognitions include a corporate cup for the business with the most finishers, veteran prizes for long-time participants, and door prize drawings. An awards ceremony will be held at Glurs Tavern after the races with refreshments for participants only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
