Bob Lauterbach Memorial Columbus Downtown Runaround
The event is a two-day running event in Columbus, Nebraska with activities at Lake Esther and Glur's Tavern, 2301 11th Street. It includes a youth fun run and two measured road races held on the following day.
Distances
- Junior Runaround at Lake Esther
- 2.1 Mile
- 5 Mile
The Junior Runaround is free and open to children age 12 and under. The 2.1-mile and 5-mile races have entry fees that vary by registration period, generally ranging from $30 to $45; late registrations do not include a T-shirt. A T-shirt deadline is set for July 14 for guaranteed shirts.
Course and logistics: the race course was adjusted because of bridge construction and is not USATF certified for this edition. Race numbers must be visibly worn before and during the races. Packet pickup is available at the Y on the day before the races and at the start area on race day.
Awards and extras: prizes are awarded to top overall finishers and age-group placings in both distances. Other recognitions include veterans prizes for those with at least ten prior finishes, a Corporate Cup for the business with the most finishers, door prize drawings, and an awards gathering at Glur's Tavern where pizza and beverages are provided for race participants only. There is a cash bonus for breaking the 5-mile course record. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
