BMW Berlin-Marathon 2026
The BMW Berlin-Marathon is an international sports event in the German capital and is one of the largest marathons in the world. As a member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, it is known for having a very flat course with very few elevation changes. The route passes by various historical sights of Berlin, including the Brandenburg Gate.
Participants can choose from several disciplines and distances:
- 42.195 km Marathon for runners, wheelchair athletes, and handbikers
- 42.195 km Inlineskating
- 5 km (Generali 5K) covering the last section of the marathon course
- 4.2 km mini-Marathon for youth
- Bambini-Lauf for young children
The event provides 15 refreshment stations along the course, offering water, fruit, tea, and specialized hydrogel sports fuel at specific intervals. A dedicated system for personal supplies is available for those who submit their containers on the morning of the event. Additional infrastructure includes the Marathon EXPO and various support programs such as training camps. Registration for the main running event is typically handled via a lottery system, though guaranteed entries are available through official tour operators, charity partners, or specific qualification times for fast runners.
