Blakedown Bolt 10 km : 19 June 2026

The Blakedown Bolt is a 10 km cross country race held in and around Blakedown Sports Field, off Birmingham Road. The route loops around Mount Segg and runs mainly on field and woodland paths with short sections on quiet country lanes. The course includes hills, stiles, a water crossing and varied countryside terrain; most of the route is traffic free.

Entries are taken online via StuWeb and places are strictly limited. Transfers can be completed online up to 1 June with no additional charge; transfers on the day incur a £5 fee. All entrants must be at least 16 years old on the day of the race. The event operates under a UK Athletics license that has been applied for.

There are at least two water stations on the course and one at the finish. Marshalling is provided by volunteers from the local area. Facilities at the Sports Pavilion include changing, showers and a disabled toilet. Limited free parking is available in Blakedown and the local railway station is approximately three minutes from the start.

Finishers receive a memento that is a genuine nut and bolt. Prizes are awarded across multiple categories, including overall and veteran age groups. The organisers aim to recycle bottles, cans and paper and encourage the use of public transport and lift sharing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
