The Blackstairs Mountain race, part of the Irish Mountain Running Association's Southeast League, takes place in County Wexford. This challenging 7 km event features a 513-meter ascent, following the traditional hillwalkers' route to the summit at 733 meters and back. The course is marked only at major junctions, and GPS devices are permitted.
Participants must carry mandatory safety gear, including a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, and emergency blanket or bivvy bag. The race starts near Coonogue Crossroads, accessible from Ballymurphy and Kiltealy, offering a demanding mountain running experience in a scenic Irish setting.
