Black Lung Ultra Marathon
The Black Lung Ultra Marathon returns for its third edition on September 12, 2026. Presented by Coliseum Sports & Entertainment, the event is based in Nordegg, Alberta, at the entrance to the David Thompson corridor through the Rocky Mountains. The Nordegg Community Hall is the stated event location.
The race is a rugged 62 km ultra divided into three sequential legs. The course runs along mountain ridges and through areas near the former coal mining town, reflecting the region's mining history that inspired the event name. Terrain includes mountain segments and portions that link with the local town area.
Both solo and team entry categories are offered to cover the full 62 km across the three stages. Registration is subject to fees and limited participant capacity as reported by the organizer. Organizational details focus on the mountain route and the historical setting rather than specific timetable information.
Competitors should expect a multi-stage route in mountain terrain and plan accordingly for the three-leg structure and the mix of ridge and town-adjacent sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
