Black Gold Brute Obstacle Course Race
The Black Gold Brute Obstacle Course Race takes place in Drayton Valley, Alberta. This is the event's fourth year. The format is loop-based: the more loops participants complete, the more distance and obstacles they encounter. The event lasts for six hours.
Several heats are offered. There is a competitive heat consisting of three loops, each approximately 4.33 km, with penalties for failed obstacles. The fastest three men and women win prizes, and the first-place finishers receive free entry for the following year.
Two new challenge levels, "Savage" and "Barbaric", are available. The Savage level requires completing six loops within six hours. The Barbaric level requires completing ten loops within six hours. Special prizes are awarded for completing these levels.
Open heats are available to all racers of any age, allowing participants to complete up to three loops with no penalties for failed or missed obstacles. A team heat for groups of five includes team-specific challenges. Registration is open for ages 5-12, 13-17, and 18+. Pricing is 30$, 40$, and 50$ CAD respectively, with a discount for teams.
