Black Fly Blitz 5K : Wilmot Flat Loop
The Black Fly Blitz is the 18th annual 5K run/walk held on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, on a loop near Wilmot Flat. The course covers a clockwise circuit that begins on Village Road and continues along Shindagan Road, Cross Hill Road, and Campground Road, finishing near the Town Green. The route is relatively flat with gentle rolling terrain and is described as suitable for both runners and walkers.
Registration is open online through May 23. Fee information: registration is free for children 11 and under; participants ages 12 and up pay $25 through May 23; race day registration increases by $5 for ages 12 and up. Through April 30 a commemorative Blitz T-shirt is available for $15. Check-in and race-day registration are held under a tent on the Town Green at the intersection of Kearsarge Valley Road and Village Road.
After the finish, participants are offered free beverages and snacks. Awards include special prizes for the first overall male and female finishers and medals for the top three in each age group; the awards presentation takes place at the Wilmot Bandstand on the Town Green. For safety, dogs are asked to remain at home.
Proceeds benefit the Wilmot Community Association and its free programs, including the Red Barn Community Center and Timmy Patten Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
