Urban Native Education Alliance presents an annual Run/Walk for Life, a community suicide prevention and wellness event on August 30, 2026 at North Seattle College in Seattle, WA. The event also includes a back-to-school drive and community resource tabling.
Distances offered:
- 1.2 mile Littles ages 6 and under
- 5.8 km Youth ages 7–17 run/walk
- 5.8 km Adult and elder run/walk
Registration is free for participants; the registration period runs from June 24 to August 30, 2026. Youth T-shirts are provided at no cost; adult T-shirts are available for a suggested $15 donation.
Activities and features include resource tables, snacks, free ice cream and popcorn, limited edition posters and giveaway items, prizes for age groups, photo opportunities and autographs with a featured Olympic gold medalist, and live entertainment with a DJ and MC. A boxing and lacrosse showcase is added this year to involve youth and the community.
A poetry contest runs alongside the event with cash prizes: first-place Children (ages 5–9) $500, first-place Youth (ages 10–17) $1000, and first-place Adult (18+) $500; runner-up prizes are also awarded. Donations support the Native Warrior Athletics Program, which offers year-round free athletic programming for Native youth. Urban Native Education Alliance is a volunteer-based nonprofit founded in 2008 that provides free, year-round cultural and athletic programming for Indigenous youth.
