About the race
The Béluga Ultra Trail is a family oriented running event that supports beluga protection. It is organized by Trails du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and takes place on the Le Fjord trail in Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay.
The route network follows the fjord shoreline, crosses the municipality of Sacré-Coeur and finishes on the beach at Tadoussac. The trails offer views over Tadoussac and the Fjord du Saguenay, and athletes may observe local marine mammals including the three adopted belugas named Ultra, Trail and Kileau.
Stations of assistance on the main routes are spaced about 10 to 13 km apart because of limited access to some sectors; runners on the 45 km, 30 km and 18 km courses should plan water and food accordingly.
Distances and key features:
- 45 km full Le Fjord route, elevation gain +1625 m
- 30 km partial Le Fjord route, elevation gain +1182 m
- 18 km end section with additional loops, elevation gain +600 m
- 5 km introductory trail with mixed surfaces, no strollers allowed
- 1.5 km Bébéluga Trail, free and accessible, espadrilles required, children must register
The event highlights the region’s wildlife and plant life along natural and sometimes rugged trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
