Belmont and Little Sugar Loaf
The event takes place in Belmont Demesne, County Wicklow, and is part of the Leinster League. It offers multiple races on mixed forest, field and mountain trails, with the long course including a run around and over the Little Sugar Loaf summit. The route is fully marked and GPS devices are allowed. The long course has 360 m of climb.
Distances:
- 8.5 km long course
- 5.0 km short/junior course
- 1 km Belmont Challenge fun run
The long course follows forest and field paths, runs clockwise at the base of the Little Sugar Loaf, climbs the rocky summit, then returns via the same outward route with a final detour through the mountain bike track. The rocky summit section is technical and has some quick turns on the hill and MTB track; runners are asked to keep left where possible and give priority to descending runners. The short course follows the long course to a turnaround in the field at the foot of the hill. The 1 km run follows the MTB track and does not require online entry; participation in that run is not covered by IMRA insurance.
Mandatory kit is Level B - Standard: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Entry fees and limits are listed for each category and there is a parking charge collected at the Demesne. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
