Belmont and Little Sugar Loaf : Irish Mountain Running Association
This event is a mountain running meeting in Belmont Demesne, County Wicklow, forming the final race of the Leinster League. There are three course options with different distances and profiles:
- 8.20 km long course with about 335 m climb, including forest and field trails, a clockwise approach to Little Sugar Loaf, a rocky summit section and a fast descent using mountain bike trails.
- 4.25 km short/junior course following the long course with a turn into the woods at 1.6 km and a technical woodland section before rejoining the MTB track to the finish.
- 1 km Belmont Challenge fun run on the MTB track; this is informal, free to enter on the night, and not covered by IMRA insurance.
Entries are online for the long and short courses; the 1 km challenge requires registration on the night. Entry fees listed are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Parking at Belmont Demesne carries a €3 charge payable on exit.
Mandatory kit at the event is Level B standard and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Random kit checks may be carried out and lack of required items may lead to refusal of entry or disqualification.
There is an informal course recce planned beforehand and a post-race prizegiving, BBQ and refreshments at the Belmont Demesne café and walled garden. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
