Belmont and Little Sugar Loaf
Belmont and Little Sugar Loaf is a mountain running event held at Belmont Demesne in County Wicklow with multiple marked trail options and a technical rocky summit section. GPS devices are permitted and the total climb on the long course is listed as 365 m.
Distances
- 8.15 km long course
- 4.2–4.25 km short / junior course
- 1 km Belmont Challenge fun run
The long route follows the classic Belmont line through forest and fields, runs clockwise at the base of the Little Sugar Loaf, then turns up and over the rocky summit before joining newer bicycle trails for a fast descent and a final twisty approach to a courtyard finish. The short course follows the long route with an earlier turn into the woods and a technical woodland section before returning via the MTB track. The rocky summit is technical and runners are asked to give priority to descending runners and keep left where possible. Route is fully marked; participants should watch for quick turns on the hill and bike tracks. Headphones are not permitted while racing.
Entry and logistics: long and short courses require online entry followed by in-person registration at the Belmont Demesne garden beside the café; the 1 km fun run does not require online entry. There is a €3 parking charge payable on exit. Public transport options include DART to Bray and local bus services near Rathdown Road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
