Event Overview
The Belmont and Little Sugar Loaf is a mountain running event in Wicklow on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. It is the first race of the Leinster League. There are three race options: a Long Course of 8.5 km with 360 m of climb, a Short/Junior Course of 5 km, and a 1 km Belmont Challenge fun run/walk.
Courses
- Long Course (8.5 km): The route starts in Belmont Demesne, winding through forest and fields before running clockwise on a trail at the base of the Little Sugar Loaf. Runners ascend the rocky summit of the Little Sugar Loaf before rejoining wider trails. The route returns via the fields and forest, finishing with a detour on a mountain bike track.
- Short/Junior Course (5 km): This follows the start of the long course to a turnaround point at the foot of the Little Sugar Loaf, then returns, taking a detour from the forest to the finish via the mountain bike track. It is open to all.
- 1 km Belmont Challenge: This is a fun run or walk on the mountain bike track. Online registration is not required and participation is free.
