The course surface is rocky, rooty, and dirt single track. Named trail sections include Beaver Creek, Lookout Mountain, Deer Crossing, and Skyline. A 10 hour cutoff applies to all events. A main aid station is located at the start and finish area. Additional aid and hydration stations are placed along the courses with specific mile markers for each distance; stations provide water, electrolytes, ice, snacks, and hot or cold foods. Drop bags may be left near the start and finish area.
Required and suggested gear includes a headlamp for dark hours of the 11 Miler and 22 Miler, a cellphone because the area is remote, and a water carrying system with about 32 ounces recommended.
