Event Overview
The Bear Valley Triathlon takes place in the Sierra region of Bear Valley, California. The event features a multi-sport course combining swimming, cycling, and running through mountain scenery. Participants can register as individuals or as part of a relay team.
Course Details
The competition consists of three distinct segments:
- 600-yard swim: Located in water with temperatures typically reaching 70 degrees or higher. Wetsuits are permitted.
- 10.5-mile bike: A three-loop course characterized by rolling terrain and climbing sections.
- 3.4-mile run: A single-loop course on rolling roads.
Water stations are positioned along the running route to assist participants. The air temperature in the area is generally around 70 degrees during the event period.
Participation and Awards
Race packets are collected on the morning of the event at the site. The registration fee covers a custom t-shirt and a post-race lunch that includes beverages. An award ceremony and raffle are held following the conclusion of the races. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as masters winners. Medals are also provided to the top three finishers in several age categories, ranging from 18 and under to 70 and over.
