BC Backyard Ultra

BC Backyard Ultra is a Last Runner Standing event hosted by Lewiston Ultra Events at Sicamous Public Beach Park in Sicamous, British Columbia. The route lies within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.

The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: every hour on the hour each runner must complete a loop of 6,706 meters. Three minutes before the hour three whistles sound, two minutes before two whistles, and one minute before one whistle. When the bell rings at the start of the hour runners must be ready in the starting chute. When a single runner remains that runner completes one final victory loop. There is one winner; all other participants are recorded as DNF.

BC Backyard Ultra is a SILVER TICKET event that supports the Canadian Championship Series and Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship. For 2027 the winner will receive cash prizing (40 laps or less: CAD 700 winner / CAD 300 assist; 41 laps and more: CAD 1,000 winner / CAD 500 assist) and an opportunity to compete at the 2027 World Championship via the At Large list.

The course uses a mix of non technical trail and pavement with less than 20 meters elevation gain or loss. Entry is CAD 185 plus GST and UltraSignup fee. Participants must be 19 years of age or older on race day. Registration is transferrable for a CAD 20 administration fee until 8am on April 9, 2027. The event does not offer refunds and does not maintain a waitlist. Registration opens October 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM PT and closes April 9, 2027 or when the race fills.
