Event overview
BC Backyard Ultra is a Last Runner Standing format trail race scheduled for April 24, 2026 in Sicamous, British Columbia. The race is hosted at Sicamous Public Beach Park and is part of the Canadian Championship Series and the pathway to Big Dog's Backyard Ultra World Championship. The route lies within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.
Format and course
The event will allow up to 125 racers and has no waitlist. Runners repeat a loop each hour; each loop is 6.7056 km (6706 meters / 4.167 miles). The route mixes non-technical trail and pavement and has less than 20 m elevation gain or loss per loop. Three, two, and one whistle signals occur three, two, and one minute(s) before the top of the hour. When one runner remains, that runner completes a final victory loop; all other participants are recorded as DNF.
Prizing and status
The BC Backyard Ultra is an approved Silver Ticket event for the Canadian Championship and Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship. The 2026 winner will receive a silver coin and an invitation to the 2026 Canadian Championship.
Registration and eligibility
Entry fee is $175 CDN plus GST and UltraSignup fees. Participants must be at least 19 years old on race day. American Express and Discovery cards are not accepted. Registrations are nonrefundable; transfers are allowed until April 10, 2026 for a $20 administration fee. Registration closes April 10 or when the field fills.
