BC Backyard Ultra
BC Backyard Ultra is held at Sicamous Public Beach Park in Sicamous, British Columbia. The event supports the Canadian Championship Series and Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship. The route lies within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.
The backyard format requires runners to complete repeated hourly loops. Every hour runners must cover 6706 meters (4.167 miles / 6.7056 kms). Three minutes before the top of the hour three whistles sound; two minutes before two whistles; one minute before one whistle. When the bell rings at the start of the hour runners must be in the starting chute. When one runner remains they complete a final victory loop. There is a single winner; all other participants are recorded as DNF.
The course mixes non-technical trail and pavement and features less than 20 m of elevation gain or loss. The venue provides a staging area described as a community-focused gathering spot with support for racers.
Registration and entry conditions include a fee of 185 CAD plus GST and UltraSignup fees; American Express and Discovery cards are not accepted. Participants must be 19 years or older on race day. Lewiston Ultra Events does not offer refunds and there is no waitlist. Registrations are transferable until April 9, 2027 at 8:00 for a 20 CAD administration fee.
