BC Backyard Ultra : Sicamous, British Columbia
BC Backyard Ultra is held at Sicamous Public Beach Park in Sicamous, British Columbia. The event uses the Backyard format, known as LAST RUNNER STANDING, where runners return to the base area repeatedly until only one runner remains.
Every hour runners must complete 6706 meters (4.167 miles / 6.7056 km). Audible signals mark the countdown: three whistles three minutes before the hour, two whistles two minutes before, one whistle one minute before, and a bell at the start of the hour. When one runner remains they complete a final victory loop. There is a single winner; all other participants receive a DNF.
The course mixes non-technical trail and pavement and has less than 20 m of elevation gain or loss per lap. The event features a central staging area for community and volunteers. The route is within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.
BC Backyard Ultra is a SILVER TICKET event supporting the Canadian Championship series and Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship. For 2027 the winner receives cash prizes (40 laps or less $700 winner / $300 assist; 41+ laps $1000 winner / $500 assist) and an opportunity to be placed on the 2027 World Championship At Large list.
Entry fee is $185 CAD plus applicable taxes and platform fees. Participants must be 19 years of age or older on race day. Registrations are transferable for an administrative fee until April 9, 2027 at 8am; there are no refunds and no waitlist. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
