About the race
BC Backyard Ultra takes place on April 23, 2027 in Sicamous, British Columbia, hosted at Sicamous Public Beach Park by Lewiston Ultra Events. The event supports the Canadian Championship Series and Big Dog's Backyard Ultra World Championship and is designated a SILVER TICKET event.
The format follows the Last Runner Standing backyard ultra: every hour runners must complete 6706 meters (4.167 miles / 6.7056 kms). Three whistles sound three minutes before the top of the hour, two whistles two minutes before, and one whistle one minute before. At the bell that starts the hour, runners must be in the starting chute. When one runner remains, that runner completes one final loop as a victory lap. There is a single winner; all other participants are recorded as did not finish.
2027 prizes include cash awards and an opportunity to compete on the At Large list for the 2027 World Championship. The event notes that the trails lie within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.
Registration information published for the event lists an entry fee of $185 CDN plus GST and platform fees. Participants must be at least 19 years old on race day. American Express and Discovery cards are not accepted. The organizer does not offer refunds and there is no waitlist; transfers are permitted until April 9, 2027 for a $20 administration fee.
