BC Backyard Ultra
BC Backyard Ultra is hosted at Sicamous Public Beach Park in Sicamous, British Columbia. The event supports the Canadian Championship Series and Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship and is designated as a SILVER TICKET event. The route lies within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation.
The Backyard format requires runners to repeat hourly loops until only one runner remains. Each hour participants must complete 6706 meters (4.167 miles / 6.7056 km). Three minutes before the top of the hour three whistles sound; two minutes before two whistles; one minute before one whistle. When the bell rings at the start of the hour runners must be ready and in the starting chute. When one runner remains they complete a final victory loop. There is only one winner; all other participants record DNF.
Prizes and invitations vary by year. For 2026 the winner will receive a silver coin and an invitation to the 2026 Canadian Championship; the winner of that event may advance to the 2027 World Championship. Other editions have included cash prizes based on laps completed.
Registration details note a fee of 175 CAD plus applicable taxes and platform fees, a minimum age of 19 on race day, no refunds and no waitlist. Transfers are permitted until April 10 for a CAD 20 administration fee. Registration closes April 10 or when the race fills. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
