Bayside Sea Swim Triathlon
The Bayside Sea Swim Triathlon is a multi-discipline event held at Stokes Bay, starting and finishing at the local Sailing Club. This event caters to participants transitioning from pool or lake based triathlons to sea swimming. The competition follows a specific format over three distinct legs:
- 400m Sea Swim: A straight line parallel to the shore in the Solent, swimming with the current to avoid turns or buoys. The entry and exit are located on the beach, with starts organized in waves.
- 25 km Bike: A route departing from the sailing club towards Lee on the Solent before looping through Stubbington and Titchfield. The course includes a mixture of seafront views and quiet country roads.
- 5 km Run: A flat course that utilizes the Stokes Bay promenade and adjacent paths. The terrain includes paved areas and a loop around a meadow before returning to the finish line near the lifeboat station.
Competitors are required to wear wetsuits for the duration of the swim. The event location provides shore and waterborne support during the first leg. Upon completion, participants receive a medal and catering at the Sailing Club. Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in both categories.
