Baviaans Mountain Marathon
The inaugural Baviaans Mountain Marathon takes place on Saturday 4 July 2026 in the Baviaanskloof. The event is based at Doringkloof Boskamp, about 90 km east of Willowmore, and is organised by Baviaans to Bay Adventures and St Francis Sport. The beneficiary is the NG Kerk.
Three trail distances run simultaneously:
- 42 km marathon
- 21 km half marathon
- 10 km race
Marathon and half marathon entrants will receive the GPX file in advance. Routes will be well marked and include water and aid stations. A race tracker is compulsory and is included in entry fees. Cell signal is very limited in the kloof; some MTN coverage exists in parts of the 10 km area. The route crosses private farm land and is not open to the public before race day; disrespecting this restriction may lead to a fine and banning from future events.
Food and hospitality at Doringkloof Boskamp include breakfast, light daytime meals and a spit braai on Saturday afternoon. Prize giving will be held after the races and all participants receive finisher medals. Organisers advise booking two nights of accommodation in the kloof; accommodation information will be shared via the event channels.
Entry fee structure varies by distance and booking date and includes items such as trackers, a race shirt or socks for early entries. Additional shirts and socks are available to order before specified deadlines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
