About the race
Bare Bones Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day event presented by the Mattoon Area Family YMCA at two locations: Mattoon and the Neal Center YMCA in Toledo. The event is noncompetitive and no official results will be recorded.
Routes include:
- 5 mile route through Mattoon Lightworks at Peterson Park
- 3 mile route in Mattoon
- 3 mile route in Toledo at the Neal Center YMCA
Mattoon features a pre-race celebration in Bock Gym with family activities, games, photo opportunities, hot cocoa, and refreshments. Both locations host a free Early Bird post-race program inside the Y that includes group fitness classes.
Registration fees are listed as $25 in advance and $30 on race day. Registrations are nontransferable and nonrefundable. Register before Oct. 30 to guarantee a long-sleeved technical race shirt; registrations after that date receive shirts while supplies last. Packet pick-up is offered the day before and the morning of the event at each location.
All race proceeds support the YMCA’s Membership for All program, which provides financial assistance so community members are not turned away due to inability to pay. The event includes the first Turkey Trot held at the Neal Center YMCA in Toledo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
