Bare Bones Turkey Trot
The Bare Bones Turkey Trot is a non-competitive road run organized by the Mattoon Area Family YMCA on Thursday, November 26, 2026. The event offers two route options:
- 5 mile
- 3 mile
Routes pass through the Mattoon Lightworks display at Peterson Park before sunrise. The course includes one self-service water station. No official results will be recorded for this event.
Registration fees are listed as $25 in advance and $30 on race day. Register before Oct. 30 to guarantee a long-sleeved technical race shirt; later registrations may receive shirts while supplies last. Registrations are non-transferable and non-refundable. Packet pick-up is available at the Mattoon Area Family YMCA on the day before the event and on race day.
A pre-race celebration at Bock Gym includes family activities, games, a photo opportunity, hot cocoa, and refreshments. After the run, the YMCA offers Early Bird group fitness classes inside the Y at either location.
All race proceeds benefit the YMCA’s Membership for All program, which provides financial assistance to community members so that inability to pay does not prevent participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
