Balboa Park 8 Miler
The Balboa Park 8 Miler is an annual road race held in Balboa Park and organized by the San Diego Track Club. The event traces its origins to 1955 and is described as one of the oldest races in the United States. To preserve the character of the course, entry is limited to 2,000 participants each year. The primary distance contested is 8 miles.
The event provides chip timed results and issues custom bibs. Participant goods include an official race T shirt, a finisher medal and free race photos. An awards presentation is part of the event schedule. Packet distribution options include in person pick up at Road Runner Sports in San Diego and a paid mail option; mailed packets are sent approximately 8 to 10 days before the race for the stated fee.
Special registration discounts are offered through GOVX for eligible service members and public employees, including military, first responders, medical service personnel and educators. The race has an established history with materials on course maps, road closures and past results available through the event channels maintained by the organizer.
