B5 Bettystown 5K
The B5 Bettystown 5K is a measured road race in the village of Bettystown in County Meath. The course is described as fast and flat and the event is sanctioned and measured under A.A.I. rules.
The route begins at the coast road entrance to Coláiste na hInse and follows a loop that includes the Tara Road, the Tesco and Triton Road roundabouts, Eastham Road, Bettystown Cross and Piltown Road, then returns via Sevitt Hall, the Narrow Ways and the Triton roundabout back onto Tara Road to the finish at Coláiste na hInse.
Practical details include t shirts for the first 300 registered, no bag drop facilities and toilets available outside the library and at the start and finish area. Parking options are listed at Funtasia, the Anchorage car park, Tesco and limited public parking near the parochial hall; public parking for the beach at Laytown is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the start. Laytown train station is roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk to the event and local bus timetables are available via the local operator.
Safety and event rules note that music players are not advised, buggies and pets are not allowed, participants should stay on the left side of the road and stewards will manage traffic while the roads remain open. Civil Defence will provide first aid on the day. Prizes are awarded for top overall finishers, age categories, juniors and teams and refreshments and prize giving take place after the race.
