Event overview
The Australian Outback Marathon is scheduled for 25 July 2026 in Central Australia, with running routes that provide views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. The course is described as relatively flat with a couple of inclines and small sand dunes. Most of the route is on unsealed roads, bush tracks and soft-sand trails across the region's red earth. The event includes community engagement programs, including free entries for Yulara Primary School students and invitations to local Anangu community organisations.
Distances
- 42KM Marathon : minimum age 18+, cut-off time 8 hours.
- 21KM Half Marathon : minimum age 15+, cut-off time 8 hours.
- 11KM Fun Run : open to all ages, no cut-off time.
- 6KM Fun Run : open to all ages, no cut-off time.
Itineraries and inclusions
Race entry is available only as part of packaged itineraries. Five package levels are offered with different durations and starting prices in Australian dollars: Platinum (6 days / 5 nights, from $2195), Diamond (5 days / 4 nights, from $1850), Gold (4 days / 3 nights, from $1650), Silver (4 days / 3 nights, from $1595) and Red Earth (3 days / 2 nights, from $1150). Packages commonly include guaranteed race entry, return transfers between Connellan (Ayers Rock) Airport and hotels for scheduled flights, accommodation nights, selected meals, race day transfers, a finishers medal and certificate, and race photography. Specific inclusions vary by package (for example, a Kings Canyon day tour is included in the Platinum package). Child rates apply for ages 3 to 12; children 2 years and under are free of charge.
