About the race
Aurora Om Die Berg is an annual cycling event and fun run held at Aurora Skougronde in Aurora, Western Cape. The event offers a mix of gravel and mountain bike routes plus a fun run/walk, all starting and finishing at the showgrounds where a small town bazaar with food and drinks is hosted.
Routes and formats include:
- 90 km Die Lang Pad (gravel route around the mountain through Kapteinskloof)
- 55 km Om Die Berg (MTB single track around the Aurora mountain via farm routes)
- 20 km Trapsgewys (gravel and tar, includes novice-friendly sections)
- 10 km Prettrap (farm gravel fun ride, turnaround at 5 km)
- 10 km Dapper-Stapper (fun run/walk that follows the Prettrap route with a 5 km turnaround option)
Categories include MTB (E-bikes welcome) and gravel. Total elevation for the 55 km MTB route is listed as 662 m. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers in the 90 km, 55 km and 20 km categories excluding E-bikes; there are no prizes for the 10 km routes. Age rules require adult accompaniment for younger participants: under 16 on the 55 km and 90 km, under 12 on the 20 km, and under 10 on the 10 km. Entry fees vary by class and are listed per route.
