Event Summary
The Au Sable Valley Triathlon is an event with a kayak, bike, and run sequence set in the Huron National Forest. The course begins at the boat launch on Mio Pond of the Au Sable River in Mio, Michigan, and ends at Boney Park in Fairview.
Course Details
The event covers three distinct legs:
- Kayak for 1 mile on river backwaters.
- Bike for 11 miles on paved roads.
- Run for 3 miles on grass and dirt trails.
Participants can compete as individuals or as a team of two or three members. The event is described as intermediate-level in difficulty.

Lunch and a t-shirt are included with the entry fee. The event raises funds for Love INC of Oscoda County, a nonprofit organization. Kayaks are participant-provided, but rentals are available from a local outfitter for an additional fee. E-bikes are not permitted, and cyclists must wear a buckled helmet.
Awards are given to the first-place teams in men's, women's, and mixed categories, as well as to the top three individuals in seven categories.
