Arsenal 5k Run/Walk
The Arsenal 5k Run/Walk is held on the historic campus of IPS Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. This event is organized by volunteers and emphasizes health, local history, and community support. The primary goal of the race is to raise funds for college scholarships and grants for local high school students and extracurricular clubs.
The course features a variety of terrains and covers the following distance:
- 5 km (Run or Walk)
Participants navigate a mixed-terrain route that includes asphalt, concrete, brick, and gravel surfaces. The course layout begins and ends by the West Gym, passing through Longshore Stadium and looping around the Fountain in the Quad. Since the route is not a closed course, participants may encounter pedestrians or narrow sections on public sidewalks along 10th Street and Oriental Street. Restrooms are available for use inside the West Gym.
Registration options include entries for adults and students. While student entries are offered at no cost for those aged 1 to 19, they do not include a commemorative t-shirt. High school seniors may participate or volunteer to become eligible for individual scholarships. The event also provides a Friday afternoon packet pickup for bib numbers and shirts at the Chase Legacy Center, with an additional pickup window available on the morning of the event.
