Arsenal 5k Run/Walk
This volunteer organized 5K run and walk is held on the historic campus of IPS Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, at 727 N Oriental Street. The event is presented as a family friendly community gathering that connects health, local history, and support for students.
The course is a casual, mixed terrain 5k with sections on asphalt, concrete, brick, grass, and gravel. The event welcomes first time 5k participants, young runners, children, walkers, teams, alumni, and neighborhood groups. Race entries for students are free but do not include a t-shirt. Adult entries carry a fee and include a t-shirt option for registrations received before September 1; shirts are not guaranteed for late registration.
Funds raised support college scholarships for Near Eastside high school seniors and grants for Arsenal Technical High School extracurricular clubs. Since 2000 the event has donated more than $65,000 in college scholarships. High school seniors who wish to be eligible for individual scholarships must participate by completing the race or by volunteering. Extracurricular clubs seeking grant eligibility must have members participate, volunteer, or otherwise contribute.
