Event details
The Arny Johnson run/walk is the 39th annual edition and takes place in Loves Park, Illinois, at the Zenith Park Way Trail Head (5451 Zenith Pkwy, Loves Park, IL 61111). The event offers two race distances:
- 5k
- 10 mile
Entry fees listed in the event information are $35 for the 5k and $40 for the 10 mile. Prices increase after March 28, 2026. Race day sign-up is available at a higher fee of $50. All participants aged 18 and under have a reduced fee of $15.
Course and logistics
Both races start and finish at the Zenith Park Way Trail Head and follow the Willow Creek Path into Rock Cut State Park. The 10-mile course includes three water stops; one is passed twice near the dam and another is near the park’s north entrance where the paved path crosses the road. Organizers note the Willow Creek Path is narrow and strollers and pets are not allowed.
Early packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, April 25 at Fire Department Coffee (811 W Riverside Blvd, Rockford, IL 61103). Race day packet pickup is at the Zenith Park Way Trail Head. Age-group awards are given (8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, then five-year increments up to 100+). A brief awards presentation for the first place male and female will occur soon after they finish; other awards are available at the awards table and will not be mailed.
