Armidale Running Festival
The Armidale Running Festival is an inaugural sports event held in Armidale, New South Wales. Based at Civic Park on Faulkner Street, the festival takes place over a single weekend and incorporates five different distances to accommodate various participation levels. The event highlights the high-altitude landscape of the region and centralizes all race starts and finishes at the same park location.
The festival features five distinct distances:
- 1 km Kids Fun Run for children in year three and below.
- 3 km Run.
- 5 km Run.
- 10 km Run.
- Half Marathon (21.1 km).
The 10 km and Half Marathon events include prize money for the top three male and female finishers. On Saturday, the schedule focuses on the shorter distances, including the 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km races. The Half Marathon is held on Sunday morning. Participants are required to keep to the left during the races to allow others to pass safely.
Beyond the running competitions, the venue at Civic Park hosts a large regional market, community stalls, and local food vendors. The festival site includes live music, dedicated picnic zones, and play areas for children. Participants can collect their race bibs at a local dealership on the Friday prior to the event or on Saturday morning before the first races begin.
