1st Annual Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k
The Ann Arbor Ostomy 5K is an inaugural running event held in Dexter, Michigan. This family oriented event takes place on October 3rd at 8801 N. Territorial Road to recognize Ostomy Awareness Day. The gathering features local vendors, food, music, and an atmosphere centered on community celebration. All proceeds from the race benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc, a nonprofit organization providing resources and advocacy for individuals living with an ostomy or continent diversion.
Participants can choose from several event categories focused on inclusion and community support:
- 5K Race - Open Division for all ages
- 5K Race - Ostomate Division
- 50 Yard Dash - Kids aged 5 and under
- 50 Yard Dash - Kids aged 6 to 10
The Open Division 5K includes age group categories starting from 19 and under up to 70 and above. The Ostomate Division features specific awards for the top three finishers. Participants have the option to form or join race groups to compete alongside family, friends, or co-workers.
Individuals can engage in fundraising efforts to support educational materials and support services. Registration fee refunds are available for those who reach specific fundraising thresholds or successfully refer five other participants to the event.
