About the race
The Allgäu Panorama Marathon marks its 20th edition on 08.08.2027 in Sonthofen and combines several race formats over a weekend. The program includes long and short distances, a mountain race and family-oriented options. In 2026 the event had 4,200 registered participants and recorded finisher records on all routes. Organisers report that extreme heat affected the race that year and that one capacity-related exception occurred; otherwise the event infrastructure met demand.
Around 400 volunteers supported race operations in 2026. Local officials gave greeting addresses, and a range of partners and sponsors support the event. For the 20th anniversary the schedule adds a second half marathon on Saturday. This “half marathon reverse” follows almost the same route as the Sunday half marathon but in the opposite direction, offering different views of the Oberstdorf mountains.
Participants can run the Saturday race, the Sunday race, or both; those who complete both half marathons receive an additional medal. Available materials from previous editions include a program booklet for 2026 and photographic galleries. The event takes place in Sonthofen and the surrounding Oberallgäu area.
