Alex's 5K Run/Walk
Alex's 5K is an annual community race held in Houston that raises funds for autism awareness, research, and services. Net proceeds go to designated charities and the event is presented by the Bayou City Road Runners, an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) running club.
The event includes a chip timed 5K run/walk on a certified, flat course described as fast and not on Allen Parkway. Awards include a cash prize of $100 for the Open and Masters winners, age-group awards in five year increments with places three deep, and unique event awards. All finishers receive custom finisher medals and participants receive technical shirts. Additional event features listed by the organizer include door prizes, post-race food and drinks with music, and a virtual participation option.
A family-oriented Kids' K offers a fun, noncompetitive 1K course for children, with kids-sized race shirts, finisher medals for all young participants, a special prize for the first boy and girl, and additional family activities. The race also includes a Wheel Division for athletes who use wheels.
