About the race
Now in its 16th year, the Alderton 5k is a village road race of 5 km held in Alderton, Gloucestershire. Proceeds support Alderton Acorns Pre-School and Toddlers.
The course is a mostly flat, fast out and back on closed roads. From the start near the junction of Beckford Road and Willow Bank Road, runners head along Beckford Road, pass Race HQ at Alderton Playing Field, continue through Great Washbourne, then turn before the A46 at Beckford and return to Alderton. Runners enter the playing field, complete a short lap of the football pitch and finish near the penalty spot. Distance markers appear at each kilometre and water is available at the start, the turnaround (about 2.5 km) and the finish.
Race headquarters are at Alderton Playing Field, Beckford Road, Alderton GL20 8NL. Parking is available adjacent to the playing field. Race numbers are collected at Race HQ on race day. Toilets are provided at Race HQ, in additional portable units, and at the Gardeners Arms about 100 m from Race HQ. Bag storage is offered with entry marshals but the organisers cannot accept liability for loss or damage. Teas, coffees, drinks and cakes are available at Race HQ.
The event is inclusive: U16s, pushchairs, dogs and escorted runners are welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. A no questions asked refund or transfer policy applies and entries are available online or on the day.
