Alderton 5k Run
Alderton 5k Run is a community road race in its 16th year, held on Saturday 4 September 2027 at Alderton Playing Field, Beckford Road, GL20 8NL. The event donates all entry fees to Alderton Acorns Pre-School and has raised over £25,000 for the charity.
The route is a fairly flat, fast out and back on closed country roads. Runners follow Beckford Road through Great Washbourne, turn just before the A46 at Beckford, then return to Alderton and finish with a short lap of the football pitch on the playing field. The course is slightly undulating with a small ascent after the turn. Distance markers are provided at every kilometre and water is available at the start, the turnaround at about 2.5 km, and the finish.
The event welcomes a wide range of participants. Under 16s, dogs, pushchairs and escorted runners are permitted. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Junior runners receive a free finisher medal; other runners may order a medal when entering. Finish-line photos are provided and toilets are available at Race HQ, in portable units, and at a nearby pub about 100 m from Race HQ.
Entry options include early bird and standard prices, with separate junior rates and a free option for Couch to 5K or first 5 km runners on request. Entries are taken via Eventbrite or Entry Central and a no-questions-asked refund or transfer policy applies. Parking is available next to the playing field; follow postcode GL20 8NL and event parking signs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
