The Alderton 5k Run is a village road race held on 05 Sep 2026 to raise funds for Alderton Acorns Pre-School. The event is in its 15th year and is an open, timed 5km race on closed country roads around Alderton.
Race HQ is located on Alderton Playing Field, Beckford Road, Alderton, GL20 8NL. Race numbers are issued at Race HQ before the race and refreshments such as teas, coffees, drinks and cakes are available there. Parking is provided adjacent to the playing field and is signposted; marshalls will direct vehicles.
The course is an out-and-back on quiet country lanes, passing the hamlet of Great Washbourne and turning before the A46 at Beckford. The route returns along Beckford Road, enters Alderton Playing Field and includes a short lap of the football pitch before the finish near the penalty spot. The course is described as fairly flat, with kilometre markers in place. Water is provided at the start, at the turn and at the finish. Toilets are available in the sports pavilion next to Race HQ.
The event offers a free finisher medal and finish-line photos, with a post-race massage available. Under 16s, dogs, pushchairs and escorted runners are welcome; children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult. A no-questions-asked refund policy applies.
