AFCEA Central Maryland Race for Excellence 5K and Family Fun Run/Walk
The 19th annual AFCEA Central Maryland Race for Excellence takes place April 18 to April 19, 2026 in Columbia, Maryland. Event activities are centered at Leidos, 6841 Benjamin Franklin Drive, with both start and finish lines on Columbia Gateway Drive and an after party at Pub Dog on Stanford Boulevard.

The event is organized by the AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter, a nonprofit that supports continuing education for IT professionals and funds STEM scholarships. The chapter awards over $200,000 annually to qualified students and teachers through scholarships, endowments, and grants. Net proceeds benefit the AFCEA Central Maryland STEM Scholarship Fund.
Packet pickup is available in Columbia at Charm City Run Columbia on April 16 and April 17. Race management is provided by Charm City Run. The course is USATF certified as a loop course described as relatively flat with some inclines. Amenities include course water and a light post race breakfast; registrants who sign up by March 31, 2026 are guaranteed a T shirt. Awards include top three male and female overall by gun time, age group awards by chip time across standard age brackets, and team awards with trophies for top teams.
