Acoma Sky City Jamboree
The Acoma Sky City Jamboree is a running and walking event located at the Pueblo of Acoma in New Mexico. The event takes place in one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America, with a history dating back over 900 years. The race courses are set on paved roads and provide views of the Acoma Valley and the surrounding desert landscape.
Participants can select from three different distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K (3.12 miles)
- 1 Mile Fitness Run/Walk
The event is centered at the Sky City Cultural Center and Haak'u Museum. This location sits near a 367-foot sandstone bluff and serves as a hub for understanding Acoma heritage, including traditional adobe structures and local art. All races are professionally timed.
Finisher items vary by distance. Those completing the Half Marathon receive a high-tech shirt, sunglasses, a running hat, a spike bag, and a medal. 5K finishers are provided with a high-tech shirt, sunglasses, and a medal. Participants in the 1 Mile event receive a high-tech shirt and a bib number. Visitors to the event site can also access museum exhibits focused on the community's origins and cultural practices.
