Event Overview
The 8-Hour Dream Endurance Race and Cat Nap 5K is a fixed-duration running event on July 11, 2026. The primary goal is to cover as much distance as possible within an eight-hour period. The event is held on the campus of Butler University, outside the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Course and Format
Participants can choose between two courses during the event: a 5K loop and a 1.91-mile loop. Runners are permitted to switch between these courses at any time. Both loops feature a section known as "Bulldog’s Revenge Hill."
Participation Options
There are several ways to take part:
- SOLO: A single runner completes the full eight hours (age 14 and older).
- TEAM: Relay teams with 3–4 or 5–6 runners.
- Cat Nap 5K: A standalone, single-loop 5K event that starts at the same time as the main endurance race.
Team categories include Female, Male, and Coed divisions. Coed teams have specific requirements for the minimum number of female runners. A separate RC Cup Challenge is available exclusively for certified nonprofit running clubs, who must field a 6-person coed team.
Event Atmosphere and Amenities
The event is described as having a festival-like atmosphere. A post-race celebration includes a free cookout, live music, a beer garden, and podium ceremonies. A tent village area is provided for participants, with specific guidelines for setup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
