6633 Arctic Ultra

The 6633 Arctic Ultra is a self-sufficient expedition race across the remote landscapes of the Canadian Arctic. Participants navigate distances along the historic Dempster Highway and frozen ice roads, crossing from the Yukon into the Northwest Territories.

The course is shaped by weather, ice, and terrain, traversing locations such as Hurricane Alley and Wrights Pass. As a self-sufficient adventure, competitors decide when to move, rest, and eat. Participants carry their own gear and camp in the wilderness. Checkpoints located along the route provide hot water and shelter.

The available distances are:

  • 120+ miles (193 km): Finishing at Fort McPherson.
  • 380 miles (617 km): Finishing at the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk.

The journey includes pre-race preparation and gear checks in Whitehorse before traveling to the starting point at Eagle Plains. The route crosses the Arctic Circle and passes through communities including James Creek, Aklavik, and Inuvik. The expedition package includes accommodation in Whitehorse, Dawson City, Eagle Plains, and Inuvik, as well as a return flight to Whitehorse after the race concludes.

Competitors are required to have physical fitness, knowledge of mandatory kit administration, and the mental toughness to handle consistent temperatures below -20°C and driving winds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
