5K Run/Walk in support of ALS research
This is a 5 km run and walk organized by Central United Church in partnership with the Unionville community. The event is scheduled for July 18, 2026 at 131 Main Street Unionville, Markham, ON, Canada, and raises funds and awareness for ALS research at Sunnybrook Hospital's Brain Sciences Program.
Fundraising is managed through Sunnybrook Foundation with a stated goal of CA$250,000; CA$3,831.17 has been raised so far. Donations over CA$10 receive charitable tax receipts automatically issued by Sunnybrook through Race Roster. Registration includes the option to create a personal fundraising page; a suggested fundraising goal of CA$1,000 is provided.
Registration fees for the 5K are presented as inclusive of mandatory charges. Early bird pricing is CA$56.20 for the period April 5 to May 31; regular pricing is CA$72.38 from June 1 to July 16. Race kit pickup is available on July 16 and July 17 at Running Room, 3987 Hwy 7 #5, Markham, ON, and limited on-site pickup is available at Central United Church on event day. A route map is provided by the organizer.
