2026 5K Run for the Books
The 5K Run for the Books returns for its 14th annual edition in Buchanan, Georgia. This charitable event supports literacy and the Buchanan-Haralson Public Library. The course features a route that begins and ends at the Haralson County Historic Courthouse, a landmark structure built in 1892. Participants are provided with a police escort during the race.
The event offers one main distance for participants:
- 5 km (Individual Age group/open)
The organizers provide two water stations along the route to support the runners. At the conclusion of the activity, snacks and drinks are available at the finish line. The event proceeds serve as a primary fundraiser for the local library. Participants who register by April 6th receive a custom t-shirt.
Awards are presented to the top male and top female runners. Additionally, trophies and honors are distributed across 12 different age categories. The race takes place rain or shine, and no refunds are provided for inclement weather. The event coincides with the City of Buchanan's Fair on the Square, which features local vendors, food, and entertainment in the immediate vicinity of the courthouse.
