Event overview

The IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K take place in Indianapolis on May 2, 2026. The 2026 event is the 50th running of the Mini-Marathon and the 27th running of the 5K. The combined events attract over 20,000 participants and include entrants from all 50 states and more than 20 countries.

Course and features

The Mini-Marathon includes a unique 2.5-mile lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with an opportunity to kiss the bricks. Both courses are described as flat and fast; the Mini-Marathon course is presented as designed for record-setting or personal-best attempts, and the 5K course runs through downtown Indianapolis. The 5K is the home of the USATF 5KM Championships. The event lists nearly 50 entertainment groups along the course, hundreds of volunteers, and a free Post Race Party. The Mini-Marathon has been recognized as "America's Best Half Marathon" by USA TODAY 10Best, and the 5K has been voted one of "America's Best 5K Races."
