About the race
The 500 Festival Running Events in Indianapolis comprise a set of road races and related activities organized by the 500 Festival nonprofit. The centerpiece events on May 8, 2027 are the IU Health 500 Festival Mini Marathon and the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K. The Mini Marathon is a flat, fast 13.1 miles that runs through downtown Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 5K is the host of the USATF 5KM Championships.
Supporting programs and race-day services include an expo and packet pickup, course maps and spectator information, parking and street closure details, a post race party, and participant services such as pacers and medal engraving. The event program also features elite fields, adaptive athlete entry, charity running options, and a VIP experience.
A multi-race training series, the 500 Festival Miler Series, is offered in early 2027 with three races on these dates: February 13, March 13, and April 10. A virtual program runs June through October and offers two distance options for cumulative activity: 250 miles or 500 miles. Additional community offerings include a KidsFit Final 5K and other race-weekend activities aimed at participants and spectators.
