About the race
The 100 km à pied de Steenwerck is a longstanding event held since 1976 that includes several races, notably a 100 km Course, a 100 km Open 24h and a youth race. The 100 km Course is a 100 km event with an age requirement of 18 years; entries for the referenced edition are closed. Organisers recommend previous performances such as a marathon under 4 hours or a 100 km under 14 hours, but this is advisory only.
The course is a flat, macadamized circuit that includes a loop through the village plus three laps of 32.950 km. There are six aid stations per lap, giving 18 stations in total and an average of one station every 5 km. Aid stations are equipped with toilets and provide liquids (water, orange juice, Coca Cola, a glucose solution at 100 g per 10 L, hot drinks) and solids (dried fruits, oranges, bananas, petits beurres, dark chocolate, cheese, sugar lumps, bread). Since 2022 disposable cups are no longer used and competitors must have a reusable cup.
One accompanying person is allowed per competitor with an accompanying badge available for 10 €. Accompanyers may access all aid stations; bicycle accompanists are permitted only from the 6th kilometre and a marked path leads to that point. Nordic walking with poles is permitted. Bibs are collected at the sports hall, must be worn on the front for checkpoint reading, and returned at arrival in exchange for a souvenir T shirt. Facilities include nearby parking, guarded showers, toilets and changing rooms. The event holds a BRONZE label and serves as the support for the French 100 km championships.
