The Black Bull charity trail events
The event takes place on 17 Aug 2026 at The Black Bull pub in Chelmsford. A TRA race permit application is listed as 6613 (TBC). Entry is restricted to over-18s. The 2026 charity partner is the British Heart Foundation and £2 from each entry fee will be paid to the charity.
Options on the day include:
- 10 km trail run
- 10 km social hike
- 15 km timed hike (walkers and hikers)
Registration and race number collection happen in the beer garden at the venue, which also serves as the start and finish location. The event will use a different start format in 2026; participants are asked to sign in at registration and to let organisers know when they depart and return. The shorter run/walk option is non-competitive.
A route narrative, compatible with Strava, will be made available to download in the week before the event. All starters receive a 20th anniversary T-shirt (sizes are subject to availability before August), and all finishers receive a medal and a free beverage. Bags may be left in the beer garden at the owner’s risk.
Parking is available in the public car park opposite the pub and in the pub car park, though spaces are limited; a cycle route through Admirals Park connects the train station and city centre to the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
