The Black Bull charity 10k
The Black Bull event on 17 Aug 2026 is an over-18s charity running and hiking event with TRA race permit 8724 listed as TBC. Non‑TRA and non England Athletics members pay an additional £2 levy. The organiser marks a 20th anniversary year and event merchandise and medals reflect that milestone.
Available routes and formats:
- 10 km trail run
- 10 km social hike (non-competitive)
- 15 km hike (timed but not a race)
The 2026 event uses a new 10 km route. The chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation and a £2 donation from entry fees will be paid to that charity; participants are also invited to donate directly when the charity details are confirmed. All starters receive a 20th anniversary T-shirt while all finishers receive a medal and a free beverage. A bag drop in the beer garden is available at participants' own risk. Registration and kit collection take place in the beer garden, which is also the stated start and finish location.
Route information is narrative and Strava based; a route narrative will be available to download the week before the event. Full results will be published online. Parking is available in the public car park opposite the Black Bull and in the pub car park, though participants are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport where possible. The venue is near the top of the Chelmsford Central parkrun hill and can be approached via Admirals Park from the train station and city centre. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
