About the race

Slieve Bloom Way Ultra is an Irish ultra-distance race held in County Laois. The roughly 72 km loop starts and finishes in Clonaslee, with around 1,275 meters of climbing. The route blends endurance with heritage, threading quiet lanes, single-track trails, forest paths, open bog and farmland for sweeping views across Laois and Offaly.

Notable features include Glenbarrow’s waterfalls, the source of the River Barrow, Monicknew woodlands, and historic villages such as Kinnitty and Cadamstown on the Silver River. The Slieve Bloom range is among Europe’s oldest mountains, with the highest point listed as Arderin (527 m). The course is described as an extreme-level challenge.
