Event
The LA Fur and Wildlife Festival 5K & 1 Mile is held on January 10 in Cameron, Louisiana. The race starts and finishes at the corner of Marshall Street and Wakefield Road, near the ferry, at 100 Marshall St., Cameron, LA 70631. The event includes the following distances:
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
- 5K Run/Walk
Registration and race logistics
Online registration closes January 9 at 1:00 pm. Early registration for each event is $35 until January 9; race-day registration is $40. T-shirts are guaranteed only for registrations completed by January 4 at midnight. Race-day packet pickup is available at the race site beginning at 7:00 am.
The events are open to participants ages 1 through 100. Each registered entrant receives a free admission wrist band for the festival grounds.
Awards and purpose
The 5K awards overall prizes to the top male and female finishers and first, second, and third in each age group (1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+). All participants receive an alligator tooth necklace. Proceeds benefit the Cameron Masonic Lodge #439. The race is the first event in the Cameron Parish Triple Crown Race Series.
